WHAT IS 'PERFECT'?

Dress - Classy Queens / Jacket - Primark / Bag - Zara SOLD OUT (similar here) /
Heels - New Look SOLD OUT (similar here)

I know it's been a while and I broke my promise from my last blog post ... but I am back.

I feel like I've got so much to say and discuss ... But firstly lets begin with this dress. As we should all know by now I am obsessed with velvet so I had to have this dress when I saw it (seriously I don't even know how much velvet I've now got in my wardrobe ... it's gotten out of hand)! The blended colours of black and silver grey/blue compliment each other so well and add real sophistication to this dress. An added bonus was the choker and criss-cross straps at the back which adds a modern look. It's the perfect dress for a special occasion and looks incredible paired with some simple nude heels.

This dress is from a brand called Classy Queens who approached me to be a promoter for their brand. Not only did I jump at the opportunity because of their clothing but the value of their company is something I think is really inspiring and important in the society we currently live in. Their brand promotes body positivity and they do not modify or photoshop any of their models, showcasing a variety of women with different body shapes emphasising that everybody is beautiful.

For me this was such a powerful message to send out to their customers, particularly for younger women. Today, we live in a society where everybody is so image-conscious and wants to change themselves to be this 'perfect' women. We are exposed to 'perfect' women with 'perfect' bodies and faces all through social media ... but what is this 'perfect' person we talk about? NOBODY, BECAUSE NOBODY IS PERFECT. People feel pressured to have bigger boobs, a bigger bum, a smaller nose, bigger lips ... but why? Why should society tell us what we should change about our body and why shouldn't we be happy in our own skin?

Don't get me wrong, I contribute to this society ... I'm always posting Instagram photos of myself hiding my flaws and finding that good lighting. But people need to realise that we don't all look like this behind these photos, Instagram is simply the best of someone and does not show the flaws that we all possess. I know not everybody feels this way ... But when I see brands promoting positive messages like this I think it's such a breath of fresh air.

The other day I heard somebody comment on a women's appearance saying 'why hasn't she changed her nose, she's got enough money. If I was her I would!'. I honestly couldn't believe my ears when I heard this comment, it made me angry and disgusted. Disgusted that we live in a world where some individual's think everybody should look the same and change themselves because of what other people may think. If anything this comment made me more determined to be happy with myself because these people who want to continue to change themselves for other people will never be happy.

I'm not going to act like I've never judged anybody before because I have, but this year my goal is to work on being happy with who I am and respect other people for who they are.

'Nobody can make you happy, until you're happy with yourself first'

For anybody who would like to purchase this dress or any other clothing from Classy Queens you can get a 10% discount with the code 'juxxtastyle'.

(by the way this is not at all sponsored by Classy Queens and the dress was not given to me for free, I just personally feel very strongly about this brand message and velvet...)
